Primley Wood Primary School is open to everyone.
Applications are welcome for every child, regardless of their religion, race, gender, physical ability or special educational needs.
The school prides itself on being a happy friendly space where everyone can feel comfortable and inspired to learn and grow. We really are one big happy family.

If for example you move to Leeds from another city or county (or even another country), and we are outside the dates for applying for initial Reception places, or if your child is older, you can contact us directly, and we will help you to transfer your child to our school. It’s a relatively easy process and we will give you as much help as we can.
Call us on 0113 887 3680 or email info@primleywood.co.uk to book a visit and tour of the school.
We do currently have Waiting Lists for a number of our classes.
Please give us a call on 0113 887 3680 to check availability.
In the unlikely event that we are not able to offer you a place in either Reception or in another year group, you always have the right to appeal the decision.
We’re very comfortable dealing with new children for whom English is not a first language, as well as those who cannot speak any English. The children quickly make friends here and that really helps them to initially settle in whilst the teachers and teaching assistants help them to learn in a new language. We can even make signs and worksheets in other languages whilst your child learns.
If you feel that your child is not ready to start school, please contact us, and we will work with you to assess the situation, advise on options and put together a plan.
If your child is moving from another school, we are more than happy for them to come for a tour, meet the children in their class, and to come and spend some time with us. We will try to do everything we can to help make the move feel as easy and comfortable as possible.
We run a dedicated minibus in the Leeds and Bradford areas. There are usually places available. The cost of transport depends on how far your house is from our school.

Admissions Consultation
Dear Parent/Carer and all Stakeholders
Like every school we, at Primley Wood Primary School, are required to revisit our admissions policy from time to time. In revisiting the policy this year, a note is made of a number of potential applicants over the years who continue to ask to be able to apply to the school as first choice but fall outside the catchment area. Therefore a change in the policy is being recommended. This change is being considered in particular because not all pupils currently place the school 1st, 2nd or sometimes even 3rd choice, whilst first choice applicants outside the catchment do not have an opportunity to apply.
As an academy school, Primley Wood School does not need to prescribe to a catchment area and can allocate its admissions places randomly (undertaken by a neutral third party). This would allow more first choice pupils to apply for a place, although of course they would receive no advantage over any other applicant in receiving a place - as all places will be allocated randomly in priority 4. This process would therefore create an equal likelihood for all applicants to obtain a place.
As a part of the process of considering change, we would like to consult with you and welcome any reflections either in support of the change or otherwise. If the change is approved, it will ultimately take effect for admissions in next year's application cycle.

The consultation runs from Monday 11th December 2023 until 5pm Monday 22nd January 2024. Please kindly share any comments on the admission arrangements by email at: admissions@primleywood.co.uk
