Estimated allocation for the year (2023-2024): £18,099

  •  
  • Increase opportunities for all children to engage in physical activity at break times, lunch times and after school
  • Introduce Forest School to Reception, Year 1 & Year 2 and embed outdoor learning throughout school
  • Offer a wide range of extracurricular activities to engage a wider range of children
  • Increase activity during the teaching of core subjects
  • Raise the profile of PE/Sport and physical activity and raise the children’s attitudes towards PE and sport
  • Increase staff knowledge and skills around teaching PE/Sport
  • Ensure each year group cover a range of different sports/skills in PE lessons
  • Children to have greater access to competitive sport

  • From September 2013 until 2020 the government is giving £150 million per annum to primary schools to improve the provision of physical education within school, creating more opportunities for competitive sport for all and increasing awareness of healthy living and well-being amongst pupils.

  • The money is given by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport (through Sport England). In 2017, the government decided to double the amount of sports premium funding each school is to receive meaning that they now receive approximately £16,000 and an additional payment of £10 per pupil.
